Industrialist misusing brand name to sell product, police sleeping

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 23: An industrialist of the state is illegally making his business flourish even after the directions of the court which has directed the police to debar him to do so. Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 22: Jammu police has sent special teams to Himanchal Pradesh (HP) and Punjab to record the statements of the friends of deceased Anjana Sihag, who was allegedly raped and killed by a army solider. Sources said that after getting hold of the accused, who posed himself as Army major and exploited the girl, police is now looking for the friends of the victim to know exactly what happened on that fateful day to understand the circumstances which forced Anjana for suicide. “We have sent special teams to both the places and Rajasthan where some of the friends of victim are living. Murder of Avtar Singh Family waiting for justice for last 16 months, as police FSL goes slow in investigation

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 21: Even after 16 months, the family of Avtar Singh, whose body was found mysteriously in a canal, is waiting for justice. It is not that investigation has not been conducted by the police, but all the evidences are gathering dust in the FSL lab. Avtar Singh, a labourer working at Bishnah was found dead in a nallah. Chopra murder case Ex-MLC Tarlochan Singh Wazir arrested by police

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 9: In a major step to solve the brutal murder mystery of Chopra family, Special Investigation Team (SIT) today arrested Ex-MLC Trilochan Singh Wazir following the statement of Surinder Singh alias Kala, a transporter before the Judicial Magistrate. Singh has been arrested by the police under section 164-A of CrPC and has been placed under arrest. Over 2.13 lakh pilgrims registered, security deployment begun for Amarnath yatra

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 6: As many as 2.13 lakh pilgrims have registered themselves for the annual pilgrimage to the 13,500-feet-high cave shrine of Amarnath in the Himalayas in Jammu and Kashmir. Over 2.13 lakh pilgrims for Amarnath yatra have been registered at various registration counters and through online process across the country till today, the 28th day of registration, officials said. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) began the registration process on May 10 for the yatra which will commence on June 29 and culminate on August 13. "The registration counters have been set up at 121 designated branches of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank, 24 of the YES Bank and four of the District Cooperative Banks," a SASB spokesman.The Shrine Board, at a meeting on February 18, had curtailed the period of the annual pilgrimage by 15 days. Ek Prayas puts blood donors’ database on line Website getting massive response from volunteers

Nitesh Sangral Jammu, June 3: In an effort which could save lives of hundreds of people, Ek Prayas, an association of blood donors has launched a website www.ekprayas.org containing database of volunteers across the region. Though started just few days back, so far nearly 100 people have posted their details on the website and many more have shown their interest in supporting the cause. Merchant navy officer from Jammu missing from his tanker in Australia

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, May 31: A merchant navy officer from Jammu and Kashmir has gone missing from his tanker vessel since May 27, three days after leaving an Australian port for Singapore, his family said Tuesday. Bikram Singh, 30, second officer in the Japanese merchant navy company M.T. Yayoi Express Product Tanker, left Fremantle port in Australia May 24 for Singapore. "Captain V.K. Jha from the company's office in Mumbai called us on the morning of May 27 and told us that Bikram was missing," Bikram Singh's younger brother Paramjit Singhwho lives in Ramgarh. 11,000 candidates to appear in JUET-2011 from May 26

The tests will start from May 26-June 7, spread over four sessions of the 75 minute duration daily, to allow students to compete for 42 academic programmes at Post Graduate (PG). 26 teachers suspended in Poonch, education suffers

Suspended include 16 teachers, who were not present in the school at the time of inspection by the team of the officials led by Qureshi, but so far no new teachers have been deployed, which has made education to suffer.
