JAMMU, June 21: Even after 16 months, the family of Avtar Singh, whose body was found mysteriously in a canal, is waiting for justice.

It is not that investigation has not been conducted by the police, but all the evidences are gathering dust in the FSL lab. Avtar Singh, a labourer working at Bishnah was found dead in a nallah.

Speaking with TNI, deceased father, Tirath Singh said that body was found in canal near Chorli villages teshil Bishan on February 3, last year, where he was working as a labourer in loading-unloading in a fertilizers, run by one Satish Khajuria alias Titu Shah. .

“Before death, two people working with my son namely Manhor Lal and Bittu Ram came to our house and asked about my son and later after few hours, Avtar was found dead. From day one we had suspicion on these two people in the death of my son”, he said. He added that this we have already informed to the police after death.

According to the family, they had even submitted a memorandum to the SSP Jammu, Basant Rath, seeking his intervention in properly investigating the whole matter.

“But so far it seems that pressure from some quarters has made the police to go slow in the case. Even we had met then SDPO HS Gill R.S Pura seeking his help. Even Rath Saab has not done anything”, Tirth Singh said.

He further said that at that time (SHO) R.P.S Manhas, incharge police station Bishnah was investigating the case, but there is every possibility that under some pressure it was not conducted properly.

Tirath disclosed that when his son died they had asked SHO Bishnah to investigate the case by enquiring from Manohar Lal and Bittu Ram, his coolabourer but SHO Manhas said that they will start investigation after seeking the postmortem report.

“But even after four months the SHO did not take any step to conduct proper inquiry as we are still waiting to see the culprits behind the bars”, family says.
Long yearly wait and family says that police is not sincere about booking the culprits involved in the alleged murder of Avtar Singh.

Official source said that few days ago concerned police summon two suspected persons namely Monhorar lal and Bittu Ram and after four days questioning police released both of them.
