DPC of 71 docs ignored, 26 new docs appointed 5/28/2017 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report JAMMU, May 28: Continuing with policy of adhoicism in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu, Health and Medical Education Department once again ignored Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of 71 doctors and issued another order of appointment of 26 contractual adhoc faculty members in various specialties in gross violation of Medical Council of India (MCI)'s guidelines as MCI doesn't calculate Adhoc faculty.  Moreover, most of the colleges in the country including the GMC Srinagar got a substantial increase in PG seats, GMC Jammu had got a dozen seats, because of the fact that most of the Associate professors and professors of various disciplines of GMC Jammu were holding their posts on OPG basis and were not confirmed by DPC. Pvt. Clinics, nursing homes fail to display rates lists at prominent places

5/19/2017 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report JAMMU, May 18: Despite clear directions to display treatment rates at prominent place in bold letters in order to maintain due transparency, most of the private clinics and nursing homes in the State have completely failed to adhere rules due to nexus with officials of the State Health Department. Official Sources within Health Department told Early Times that Licensing Norms of the department states that the tables of fees, costs and rates for various services should be displayed prominently in bold letters but in spite of compulsory, the most of the above said clinics and nursing homes even OPDs which are being run by some doctors and other businessmen are floating norms with impunity. Probe panel gives clean chit to Dr Zahid, revokes his suspension

Questions over motive of Dr Sunanda 5/13/2017 Early Times Report Jammu, May 13: The committee set up to probe into the allegations leveled by principal GMC&H Jammu, Dr Sunanda Raina, against her predecessor Dr Zahid Hussan Gillani has given a clean chit to Dr Zahid. The panel has also sought revoking of Dr Zahid's suspension with immediate effect, raising questions over the motive of Dr Sunanda.  The Health and Medical Education Department on Friday issued an order and asked to Dr Zahid to resume as GMC's Head of Pharmacology Department and that the suspension period shall be treated as on duty. On March 15, a high voltage drama was witnessed in the chamber of Dr Sunanda where Dr Zahid had occupied the principal's chair for several hours till intervention of the higher ups and the district administration. Patients being referred to private clinics for treatment 5/10/2017 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, May 9: Patients, visiting Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Hospital (IGGDC) Jammu, are going through harrowing times as two dental casting machines have been lying defunct for last more than 5 years, forcing patients to visit private clinics for treatment. Senior officials within IGGDC Jammu told Early Times that said two machines worth lakhs were procured in the year 2009-10 to make crowns and artificial teeth but unfortunately the machines had gone out of order within 2 years and since then, the machines have not been repaired due to lethargy and indifference of concern authority.
