GMC's admin, junior docs lock horns over suspension of PG

JAMMU, May 6: Administration of Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu and junior doctors of Medicine department, have locked horns after suspension of a Post Graduate doctor for allegedly misbehavior with Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat before entire administration and senior doctors two days ago.


Moreover, some of junior doctors of the same department went on strike and called Principal for holding a meeting but juniors' deal was stuck and breakthrough was achieved as no other departments' doctors have ready to support the misconduct of the doctor.

Following the misbehaviour of a Post Graduation student of General Medicine department with Minister for Health, the administration of Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu suspended the medico and constituted a committee to enquire the whole episode.

Complaint
On May 4 the Minister for Health and Medical Education Department Bali Bhagat visited GMC&H Jammu to enquire the health condition of injured persons-who were injured in major road accidents and admitted in GMC&H Jammu. During Minister's visit an attendant complained to Minister about the misbehaviour by the PG doctor on duty when she was asked to attend an ill patient.

As per officials of hospital, on May 4 the Minister for Health and Medical Education Department Bali Bhagat visited GMC&H Jammu to enquire the health condition of injured persons-who were injured in major road accidents and admitted in GMC&H Jammu. During Minister's visit an attendant complained to Minister about the misbehavior by the PG doctor on duty when she was asked to attend an ill patient.

"When Minister enquired about the incident and called the PG doctor but instead of pacifying the situation she exaggerated and also allegedly misbehaved with Minister for Health before entire administration of the hospital included Principal Dr Sunanda Raina, Medical Superintendent, Deputy Medical Superintendent, Assistant MS and others, "officials sources stated.
Keeping view of misconduct by PG student, the administration of GMC&H Jammu issued an order and put her under suspension till then the enquire report come out. A six members committed also constituted by the top of the institute including Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Dr. Mukta Jitendera, MS Dr Romesh Gupta, Dr. Abdul Ghani and Dr. Vijant Singh Chandial and asked them to submit their report as soon as possible so action should be taken in this regard.

Officials stated that the behavior of PG doctor was not acceptable as she didn't respect his profession and most of the junior and senior doctors against the act which was done by the doctor.
