Police not prepared to deal with cyber crime

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov. 27:  The rapid growth of the internet and computer technology over the past few years has led to the growth in new forms of crime-dubbed cyber crime. But the state police department is facing some difficulties to trackers due to professionals and software.  After terrorist attacks in Delhi and they have been linked to emails sent from cybercafés from Kishtwar District. The state police department announced the Police officials are fully geared up to face the challenges and the force has successfully dealt with various situations especially cyber crime. 41,000 HSRP fixed on vehicles so far

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 25: Near four months have been passed to begin the fixing of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles in the Jammu and Kashmir State, but the transport departments has so far fixed only 41,000 HSRP on different kind of vehicles. The departments have no proposal to fix Plates on fast track. It is pertinent to mention here that the Jammu and Srinagar cities have begun fixing High Security Registration Number Plates (HSRP) on vehicles in line with an apex court order. The project is taking moreover time to complete the fixing work of number plates. Winter arrives heating systems go out of order in hospitals Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 23: The health institutions of the state always remain in discussion for one or another reason. With the onset of winter, the heating systems installed in the hospitals have started hogging limelight. As per people, the heating systems are non_functional. It is pertinent to mention here that the state health department installed heating system in all the health institutions falling under the cold zone area of the state. This facility was especially added in labour rooms. Hospital source said that two years have passed since the installation of heating systems. But now these LPG cylinder fitted heaters have become defunct due to the lack coordination of concerned authorities. “Some of the hospitals in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch besides; Doda, Bhaderwah, and Kishtwar have heating system but are non-functional,” he added. Old CCTV not working, police wants 100 more in city

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 21: The Jammu Police is totally blind when it comes to use of Close Circuit Televisions (CCTV) cameras for record crime related activities, as most of the CCTV cameras are not functioning, but it wants to install 100 more. Amazingly, the demand has raised eyebrows as the old one are not being repaired which were installed at the cost of more than Rs 50 lakh about four years back. Similarly, the traffic police department also sent proposal of 82 Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras install in the city for streamline traffic and deal with the traffic violators here. Of these, 34 CCTV cameras have already been installed in the city and work is going on fast track to install the rest of the cameras. Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir government has spent of corers of rupees on these CCTV cameras and installed most of crowed place across Jammu. No breakthrough in Narwal bomb blast case even after 72 hours

Nitesh Sangral   JAMMU, Nov 20: Even after seventy two hours police and intelligence agencies are clueless about the people involved in the mysterious blast at Narwal, which killed one person and injured five others. State not to shift CRPF from state

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 12: With Panchs and Sarpanchs facing threat from Militants, government has decided not to remove the CRPF battalions from the state for anti-Naxalite operations. The decision has been taken after Hizbul Mujahideen head Syed Salahudin threatened to attack the Panchayat members as they are representing the Indian rule in J&K. was started the process of resignation to the sarpanches and panches posts and the State authorities have, however, stated that they have received only 50 resignations since the panchayat polls were held last year after a gap of nearly three decades. JMC failing to lift solid waste, residents suffer

Nitesh Sangral Jammu, November 9: Inaction of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to lift garbage from various parts of the city is creating major health hazard for the residents. Its not only the solid waste, but the foul smell creating unpleasant experience for commuters who pass through various localities. Many of the people alleged that shopkeepers are major contributors of the garbage as some of them lack civic sense and dump their solid waste on roadsides. However many local residents claimed that dump has created many health problems for the residents. "We daily have to inhale the foul smell which has affected our health. DGM (Region) FCI in list of corrupt officers Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 08: Employees Union of Food Corporation of India (FCI) have demanded shifting of DGM (Region) Rajesh Kumar from Jammu, after his name has been listed in ‘Doubtful Category Officers’ list for misusing their official positions. Nearly 14 officers across the North India are on the list, prepared by the Corporation in 2011. Bhartiya Khadiya Nigam Karamchari Sangh (BKNKS), Food Corporation of India Executive Staff Union (ESU) and Food Corporation of India Class IV Employees Union are spearheading the campaign against the officer. . Floating rules: Most of the drivers of commercial vehicles, without uniform Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 06: While administration is claiming that it is formulating a comprehensive city mobility plan to streamline traffic in Jammu, but authorities have failed to implement a simple decision: Ensure drivers and conductors wear a proper uniform. The order to wear uniform was issued in 2009, directing drives and conductors of commercial vehicles like matadors and busses to wear Khaki colour shirt and trouser, to identify them but no one has taken it seriously. Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 02: With festive season going on and the people gearing up to celebrate it with great pomp and show, the pickpockets and thieves have started making strides in the busy markets and isolated houses. It is not just the locals but the pickpockets from some neighboring states too have especially reached the city to make the most of the festive season. According to sources in the police department, gangs of pickpockets from many neighboring including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi have already landed in the city. Many of these pickpockets, who are mainly unidentified, are keeping the police on their toes. Banquet halls defy norms for their operation

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Oct 31: Banquet halls continue to defy norms set by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) as they continue to operate without required facilities. It is pertinent to mention here that there are near about 114 banquet halls in Jammu region, mostly used for marriage and other social functions. But most of them do not have the required infrastructure, particularly parking space and firefighting equipment. The J&K High Court had passed clear cut instructions that the running of the Banquet halls with no parking spaced should be seized and put under lock and Key.  Further stated that there would be time limit for DJ’s playing the music.
