DGM (Region) FCI in list of corrupt officers

Nitesh Sangral

JAMMU, Nov 08: Employees Union of Food Corporation of India (FCI) have demanded shifting of DGM (Region) Rajesh Kumar from Jammu, after his name has been listed in ‘Doubtful Category Officers’ list for misusing their official positions. Nearly 14 officers across the North India are on the list, prepared by the Corporation in 2011.

Bhartiya Khadiya Nigam Karamchari Sangh (BKNKS), Food Corporation of India Executive Staff Union (ESU) and Food Corporation of India Class IV Employees Union are spearheading the campaign against the officer. .

As per the directions from Union Food Ministry DGM (Region) has been debarred for increments for three years and a fine of Rs 50,000 has been imposed against the officer.

“The question is despite knowing fully that Rajesh Kumar is in the doubtful category, why was the officer posted in J&K. We have been demanding his removal for last one year”, said senior union leader, Bram Dutt Sharma.

Sharma alleged that since assuming charge of region, favoritism is issuing contracts has become a norm and honest employees are being harassed and at time transferred.

“Many employees are being routinely harassed and class IV workers are worst affected by the harassment. We appeal the union food ministry to remove the officer from the state”, Sharma said.

Unions have also demanded charge sheets against employees of New Godown Jammu should be dropped as most of them have been falsely charged with corruption to save the officials at higher level.

“They were performing their duties under the non-workable/adverse conditions provided by the management. We demand payment of pending TA bill in respect of C.L Verma and B.D Sharma and withdrawing the order of disengagement of Ram Lakhan”, union claimed.

It has also been decided that the cause of workers would also be taken up at National Executive Committee General Secretaries M.C Tyagi and Vinod Kumar.

Unions have warned that if their demands are not met, they will be forced to start statewide agitation against the DGM (Region).
