Anarchy in DHS Jammu 2/27/2017  Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   JAMMU, Feb 26: An influential junior Pharmacist and a junior Health Inspector have been performing their duties as clerks at Director Health and Services Jammu and 2.5 days salary is being drawn by both of employees reportedly without maintaining regular roster of their services. An RTI reply in possession of Early Times states that Shafkat Hussian, a junior pharmacist is working in the pay scale 9300-34800+42000 which is senior pharmacist scale but instead of utilizing his service, he is working in Death and Birth section since 2009. Pertinently, Sir Col R.N Chopra Nursing Home was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Dr. FarooqAbdullah with the aim to provide treatment to those who can afford private clinic at reasonable charges compared to other private hospitals in the city. Number of senior faculty members told Early Times that most of the staff of the hospital are against the step of converting nursing home to emergency ward which was taken by the Health Ministry and believed that the State Health Ministry's decision is completely wrong and goes against the very purpose of establishing the nursing home. Patients face hardships, as officials running Pathology lab remain adamant

2/22/2017 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, Feb 22: In order to overcome the hardships being faced by the patients in emergency cases, the administration of Government Medical College (GMC) and hospital has ordered to shift all testing laboratories under one roof opposite emergency block. Except Pathology department all other departments have been shifted in the newly constructed Window Collection block. Sources within the GMC&H told Early Times that work of window collection block opposite emergency ward was completed four months ago and the allied laboratories i.e. Microbiology and Biochemistry's laboratories were shifted three months ago and they are functioning without any difficulty but the officials of Pathology department are not shifting the lab as they need one more room in the new collection block. Minister's blue eyed now sabotaging inquiry into patient's death

Appointed on non-existing post at GMCH 2/19/2017 Nitesh Sangral   Early Times Report   JAMMU, Feb 19: A blue eyed doctor- who holds close allegiance to a Cabinet Minister has reportedly been appointed over a nonexistent post of liaison officer in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu few months back. Now, this doctor is reprtedly pressuring the administration and the enquiry committee to delay report of a patient's death who was operated by him in violation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Pertinently, the blue eyed was operating a patient, without supervision of any senior faculty member-which is mandatory as per SOPs- and due to his alleged negligence the patients had died. Left to rot, 8 ambulances turn into 'gambling dens' in DHS Jammu

2/15/2017  Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report   Jammu, Feb 15: At least eight brand new ambulances, which are lying unutilized for last many years in the premises of Directorate Health Services Jammu, have turned into dens of gambling and other illicit things. Ironically, these ambulances have been allowed to rot even as the Health Department is procuring new ambulances. Insiders in the Health Department told Early Times that senior officials know what is going on in these ambulances during evening. A number of times, the insiders said, these senior officials have spotted liquor bottles and gambling cards inside the ambulances. "Besides these officials, the higher ups are also well aware about the activities taking place inside these ambulances during the evening hours and on holidays," the insiders said. Jammu's 2000 health institutes dependant on GMC&H's old MRI machine

2/15/2017 Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report  Jammu, Feb 14: More than 2000 government-run health institutes across Jammu province are dependant on the lone MRI machine at GMC&H Jammu. This machine has seen huge patient rush for last 14 years, exposing the claims of "better and quality health services" repeatedly made by the Health and Medical Education Department. The lone MRI machine was upgraded in 2015. "Instead of installing more machines, the Health Department is using the old MRI machine, which stands obsolete, given the advancement in radio-diagnosis technology in recent years," sources told Early Times.
