While at times people are themselves taking the law into their own hands, which shows the inability of the police to rein in on the smugglers. None of the areas have remained unaffected by this menace and mostly cattle from rural areas are picked up by the mafia and sent to the Kashmir valley, where their demand remains high. TNI investigation shows that one such smuggler a man namely Shama son of Malki Ram resident of Smailpur Khodaya, is a major person involved in the bovine trafficking and has been involved in the illegal trade for last many years. Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, May 19: The menace of bovine smuggling is growing in the state, but it seems the police department is in deep slumber to deal with this illegal practices. In one such case two days ago, Bari Brahmana police recovered 13 bovine animals but smugglers fled from the spot, putting question mark on the efficiency of the administration. Sources said that, the smugglers continue smuggling bovine in the said areas, but when police officials deployed on ’Nakas’ checking the vehicles they run away from leaving their vehicles. Locals said that this is going on for last many months but there seems to be no immediate end to curb the menace. “The few question also arise, how these smugglers know police raids on that places or areas and how can run away from the spot from last two months”, said a insider. According to source, the 12th class boy namely Rohit Kumar son of Ravi Kumar, has hanged at his house. Sources also disclosed that his father is having watch shop in Kunjwani, recently his parents bought him a new motorbike, but due to some technical fault the bike is not working properly. When Ravi asked his parents for rupees 5000 to repairing the bike, they refused to give so. And it resulted the boy hanged himself to death. “Despite knowing the fact behind the death of their son the family member didn’t any register case nor do they go for postmortem” said a insider. Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, May 12: The two brothers got serious injuries when they were attacked and fired up by a group of armed men in a village of Samba district. According to sources the three armed men led by Patwari, Jasbir Singh of Vijaypur had a month long rivalry with Ravi Kumar son of Krishan Chand, a STD owner, in village Chak Mange Rakwal of district Samba and wounded him critically. The attackers, police said, fired with their licensed weapon on Ravi and left his left leg wounded, while the same leg was stabbed by using sharp edged weapon. Caring too hoots for the established rules, the violators also seem to be indifferent towards the fact that the state was grappling with menace of cross-border terrorism. As per the rule book, use of dark, black or reflective glasses in vehicles is not permitted. As provided in Rule 100 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989, the glass of windscreen and rear window of motor vehicles should have a visibility of at least 70 per cent and that of side windows a minimum visibility of 50 per cent.
