Unknown people stage protest, instigate docs to stop treatment, go on strike

JAMMU, June 3: It is very shameful that some people associated with political parties, are not letting doctors do their job by making GMC Jammu a 'protest hub' where they play politics on the excuse that doctors are not providing treatment to the needy patients.


Moreover, these unscrupulous elements in the society create hurdles in treating patients and present the wrong image of doctors.
Surprisingly, keeping in view that emergency is a of critical patients treatment area where cool and calm is required from all quarters, the State government and even concerned hospital authority have never bothered to take preventive measures to stop such protests in and around the emergency block.
On Sunday, some unknown people gathered nearby emergency of the hospital and raised slogans against the GMC Jammu especially treating doctors, creating distraction among the staff, who were treating victims of cross-border firing since Saturday night.
Eyes witnesses said that few of above said people allegedly misbehaved with the junior doctors, who were on duty and looking after the victims of cross border firing. Viewing this attitude of these anti social elements the doctors had decided to go on strike against the unbearable attitude but due to timely intervention of seniors and sensing continues cross border firing from Pakistan Rangers, the doctors had to changed their plan and continue with their job under stressful conditions.
Slamming the callous approach of the management of the GMC&H Jammu, a junior doctor, seeking anonymity, told Early Times that, "we are working under threat every time and when people get angry we get scared.
In today's episode, few people came and misbehaved with my colleague without knowing about the treatment and started protesting," he said.
Early action in the matter shall create a conducive atmosphere in this premier institution, where doctors can deliver in a much better way provided the conditions are favourable to them..
