Minister lauds Valley's health services, scolds Jammu's officials

Jammu, May 12: Appreciating the efforts of officials of Kashmir Health Services for improving health facilities despite natural calamities and unrest, Minister for Health Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal scolded Jammu's officials, doctors and others for poor performance and fewer health facilities.
However, administration of the respective hospitals didn't agree with the claims of minister and believed that things are better in Kashmir only because there is no harassment from politicians, Vigilance Organization, and others.
The Health Minister, during celebration of International Nurses Day, asked heads of institutions at Government Medical College Jammu, Medical Superintendents of GMC and associated hospitals, faculty of the hospitals and staff to show some interest to improve facilities in Jammu's institutions. Comparing Kashmir's health institutions with Jammu's, he said that they (Kashmir's doctors and others) are more advanced as they feel the pain of patients and their own people.
But contesting the claims of minister, few officials of the hospitals, seeking anonymity, said there is no doubt that Kashmir's hospitals are better than Jammu's hospitals because there was no interference from outsiders, vested interests, politicians, Vigilance Organization. Also, they claimed, tenders and works are being done by their own wish without the involvement of JKMSCL and others.
"If we purchase something for improvement of health services, some anonymous persons file a complaint with Vigilance, but these things don't happen in Kashmir," the officials claimed, adding that JKMSC has not only failed to supply drugs and other required items but also doesn't give NOC to the hospitals' administration to buy the same due to which patients have been subjected to neglect.
