Docs seek closure of in-apt Medical Supplies Corporation, resent minister's attitude

1/3/2018
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 3: In order to save his face from embarrassment after receiving criticism from everyone, Health Minister took first time meeting with Head of Departments (HoDs) at Super Speciality Hospital Jammu on Tuesday.

It needs to be mentioned here that the officials of the department were facing resentment by the doctors against the working of the management of GMC Jammu as well as Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Cooperation which, according to them failed to deliver services timely. If sources are to be believed, since the new Minister took charge of Health Ministry, he didn't take a meeting with HoDs of the various departments and never tried to know about their problems which they were facing since last many years.

"After receiving complaints and criticism regarding the poor working of the incumbent Ministry by the people and Politicians of the ruling parties, they took a meeting with the HoDs to discuss the issue of Kidney transplants and other issues," sources claimed. They added that during the meeting doctor expressed resentment against the callous approach of the Ministry towards Jammu province, poor and lack the vision of the present management of the GMC Jammu as well as JKMSCL-they are least bothered to provide facilities and give much-required attention to patients' care.

Under the pressure of the Court as the matter of Kidney transplant is sub-judice, that is why, the meeting was held. The same is being conducted in Srinagar but in Jammu neither Eye Bank is functional nor 'Organ Transplant' being conducted due to poor policies towards Jammu province. Sources further added that the lack of coordination between different agencies of the same department was shown during the meeting when they were started blame game on each other, as they failed to find deficiencies within the hospitals.

Later, doctors slammed the working of the officials of JKMSCL for not procuring any equipment more than five years, even the life-saving drugs and basic drugs are being not supplied by the Corporation for last many months reportedly, resulting patients are being forced to buy from their own pockets, as per sources.

"Clearing their side, the officials of the Corporation cried for more funds and GMC's Principal said 75 percent funds have been diverted to JKMSCL as following the direction of the State Government, "sources quoted.

"Interesting part of the meeting is that everyone was including JKMSCL, GMC's administration, doctors, and other officials threw ball on each other by hitting," sources alleged.

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls. However the concern is how to stop this menace which is like a curse on our society. A college student said that at times girls face mental harassment in shape of comments, sudden touch or lewd gestures from the teachers, but it is mostly ignored. Few days back, a teacher of a private college was arrested for allegedly making an obscene MMS of a student in mountainous Kishtwar district. 'The teacher identified as Tariq Qayoo...
