GMC adopts double yardstick for Influential, Commoner docs

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 12: It is strange but true that the Principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu has different yardstick for different set of doctors.

A doctor who commented on Minister's FB with Hashtag 'Stopfoolingpeople' was called by Principal GMC in her chamber and asked to explain his position for allegedly wrong comments on FB. But she never dared to seek explanation from a controversial doctor who had commented against Chief Minister few months ago.
Two days after inauguration of the Tetanus Ward and newly installed lift, a doctor made a comment raising doubt that the lift/escalator was not replaced with new version. Instead of showing facts, some close aides of power corridors started accusing or allegedly threatening him for spreading false propaganda and directed him to remain his job specific at the Hospital and do not interfere in administrative matters.
On March 11, one Dr Amit made a comment as "General public being fooled openly and proudly....For general masses I want to inform u that this lift is already installed and was malfunctioning they just did repair work spending few thousand rupees only and what added more to mockery is that Lift is not working today i. e just 1 day after installation. Following this, the PRO Health Minister, Pankaj Kerni, justified "So u mean to say ....a DPR has to be prepared and a tender need to be floated for new ward and we should not use existing space. A doctor should perform his duties and should not indulge in administrative matters. U are an Anesthetist and we can't dictate you how to work.....Similarly let the Administration to work .....Don't teach them."
Pankaj Kerni further commented, Agencies don't prove...it's the individuals....common man..Ur a common man....Gud....let me remind u....Ur also an employee.... in reply Dr Amit written as, "So what if I am an Employee Are you threatening meanother FB user also commented, made a comment referred to Dr Amit Krishan Dewan "bhai where u will get proof of these small things when even Robert vadra is roaming free....bhai corruption is at peak....u forget all this,,, it's all dirty game. jiski base pe yeh election jeete aka kichloo of kistwar riots ,,, yeh uss pe kuch nahin kar paaye ....u don't waste ur time." GMC Principal Dr Sunanda Raina confirmed that the Dr Amit was called and asked about the comment on social networking site. On being asked about Dr Kailash Thakur's comment against CM, she replied that she was not here.
Contradictory the claims of Principal, Senior doctors of GMC, seeking anonymity, told that Principal of GMC was in Jammu and reportedly she knew about the Dr. Kailash's comment because it was the talk of the town. No action has been taken against Dr Kailash because he was spotted with Minister for Health numbers of time.
"Pertinently, Dr Thakur directly targeted CM throwing all the service conduct rules (CCA & J&K Medical Education Gazzatted Service Rules) to winds saying PDP could not digest announcement of setting up the University by J&K Health Minister Bali Bhagat. Neither administration PDP pressed for initiating any action against the doctor who many a times in view of close proximity with a Minister goes scot free even after derogatorily remarking against female employees.

Kishtwar MMS scam, again raises issue, how secure is our girls

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls. However the concern is how to stop this menace which is like a curse on our society. A college student said that at times girls face mental harassment in shape of comments, sudden touch or lewd gestures from the teachers, but it is mostly ignored. Few days back, a teacher of a private college was arrested for allegedly making an obscene MMS of a student in mountainous Kishtwar district. 'The teacher identified as Tariq Qayoo...
