MLC demands probe over missing equipment in SSH

Jammu, Jan 30: Once again the State Health and Medical Education Department faced embarrassment for providing inappropriate information in the Upper House. MLC Ramesh Arora got infuriated by the apathetic attitude of the department and alleged that department was trying to hide something. He also demanded an inquiry into reports of vital equipment missing from Super Specialty Hospital Jammu.
MCL accused H&ME department for providing irrelevant information and status report of SSH Jammu. "I demanded status report of SSH of 2018 but they (H&ME) have provided status reports by enclosing annexure 'A' 'status on 2013', it proves, the officials were providing wrong information and misguiding the House", he said.
Earlier, responding to MLC Ramesh Arora's questions, MoS Asia Naqash said all the 3 generators installed in SSH Jammu were functional, only one was used on regular basis and other two were used periodically. "An amount of Rs 9.92 lakh has been demanded under Non Plan Head for AMC/CMC of Oxygen plant by Excecutive Engineer Mechanical, Hospital and Central Heating Division Jammu. It is temporarily restored by the concerned Medical Superintendent, the Oxygen plant is functional but still it needs complete servicing for which funds are required. At present the Oxygen is provided to the hospital patients through Oxygen generating plant backed by Oxygen cylinders through manifold gas pipe lines around the clock. Regarding the amount demanded above for Proper AMC/CMC the requisite amount shall be released under non plan as and when fourth installment received from the Administrative Department during the current financial year. Also there is shortage of technical staff to maintain the same," Minister for H&ME stated.
MLC also asked and why drawing to disbursing powers had not been delegated to the Superintendent of the SSH as done in some other likewise cases. Replying to the question, the minister stated that SSH was a part of GMC Jammu under PMSSY project. A Chief Accounts Officer was in place, who had powers for disbursement.
Replying to the question regarding status of lifts in SSH, the minister admitted that only two were functional and AMC shall be done after availability of funds

Doctors' "negligence" claims 2 lives

One more case of GMCH doctors' alleged negligence came to the fore when the report of Dr Bhupinder Singh, a pediatrician tested negative for H1N1. He had died of respiratory problems last Thursday.
