Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 25: Appreciating the steps taken by the Chief Minister by removing under-performance officials to rescue the sinking ships, the doctor fraternity had demanded removal of dummy Principal of Government Medical College Jammu and appointment of permanent Principal, for the betterment of the college.

Doctor fraternity slammed Health Ministry for catapulting a junior doctor to the top chair has opened a Pandora's Box within the GMC&H Jammu for not following procedural norms to fill up the post. The Ministry has also shown thumb to the directions of High Court which clearly says that proper guidelines must be followed in the appointment of the Principal GMC. s
If Doctor fraternity to be believed, the last three to four Principal of GMC Jammu were appointed by killing the set criteria by the concerned Ministry as they didn't want to let Principal handle all affairs of the college and associated hospitals. Owing to which, the graph of the academic and hospital services was decreased thanks to the callous attitude of the Health Ministry.
"They (politicians) accused us on various public platforms for not giving treatment to the patients but they never showed interest to new facilities, advanced machinery, and many others despite repeated reminders compared to our neighbor Province, Kashmir where almost above said facilities because of dual yardstick of the same department," they alleged.
They added that the dual approach can be gauged from the fact that GMC Srinagar always having permanent and visionary Principal with cabinet approval but in Jammu, dummy (incharge) Principals, are being appointed by favoring juniors ignoring seniors ones.
"The incumbent Principal is lack of vision to improve things and failed to meet the deficiencies pulled up by Medical Council of India viz no medical journals were purchased, no scope of digitalization as following old traditions, less interest to interact with medical faculty, restricting faculty to access auditorium, Hostels san basic amenities, library sans books but Principal didn't show to redressal these issues instead of supporting a controversial doctor of surgery department, "they further added.
They said due to her poor interest to streamline and providing better services to the people, the Chopra Nursing Home was shut down for more than three months resulting patients are being fleeced by the private players who cares.

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls. However the concern is how to stop this menace which is like a curse on our society. A college student said that at times girls face mental harassment in shape of comments, sudden touch or lewd gestures from the teachers, but it is mostly ignored. Few days back, a teacher of a private college was arrested for allegedly making an obscene MMS of a student in mountainous Kishtwar district. 'The teacher identified as Tariq Qayoo...
