Despite formation of library committee 'medical journals' yet to be purchased

11/19/2017
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 19: What could be expected from the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, if mandatory medical journals have not been purchased for the last many years even despite formation of new library committee-whose jobs to streamline the functioning of the College library--- putting medical students' future on stake.

Pertinently, ET had highlighted issue in which exposed the lackadaisical and non-serious approach of the concern authorities, following the college management constituted a committee which is head by HOD Physiology Dr. Sunil Sachdeva as chairman of the library committee and many more but in spite of a meeting, nothing has been done so far to buy medical journals.
As per Medical Council of India, it has been made mandatory to buy new and latest journals and regularly update teaching faculty on recent advancements taking place in the field of medical science so teaching would be improved, but who cares? About the guidelines of MCI, asked senior doctors.
"Owing to non-serious or callous approach of the incumbent management the future of the medical students--- who want to learn about advance treatment-- at stake because they don't have much knowledge about the recent advancement, "stated doctors. They added numbers of the times the matter was taken up but it seems the management doesn't care about it. Due to lack of interest in arranging new medical journals is not only affecting the academics of this institution, but it is also indirectly affecting patient care.
Official sources told that since 2012, no new medical journals were purchased by the management of the college and the matter was brought to the notice of the then Chairman of the committee and incumbent Principal/Dean of the College but all in vain.

When contacted Chairman of Library Committee, GMC Jammu Dr Sunil Sachdeva was not available for the comments.

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls.
