Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 30: The deadly disease H1N1 influenza, known as Swine Flu, claimed three lives and 10 have been tested positive in Jammu when last reports came in. The doctors and other staff of the health institutes across Jammu division have resentment for not providing H1N1 vaccination timely and accused concern authorities for delaying day by day.
Here is need to mention that only 10 persons have been tested positive for Swine flu and three died so far. While in Srinagar, four deaths have been reported at SKIMS Soura due to the H1N1 influenza within week.
Doctors at GMC&H and SMGS Hospital Jammu alleged that the authorities were putting them under risk as there is not adequate supplying of Temiflu injections and other protection gear to deal with the patient-who is affected with virus. The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu had placed order of 1000 vials of Tamiflu injections but only 300 vials have been got by the hospital so far. "The concerned authority is waiting for the remaining 700 vials causing great resentment among the doctors and other staff by putting under risk, "they claimed. They raised question on the management's working and asked them if doctors and staff are not protected then who will take care of the patients.
They told that the risk of infection to hospitals staff particularly doctors and nurses in OPD and emergency ward looms large and but they don't have anti-flu drug and other protection gears.
Similarly, Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital (SMGS) Jammu sought 500 vials but got 100 vials which are insufficient for the staff and doctors and still they are waiting. Medical Superintendents of the GMCH Dr Dara Singh and SMGS hospital Dr RK Sangra admitted that there is shortage of the vaccine stock in the hospitals and waiting for reaming stock.

Director Health Services Jammu Dr Gurjeet Singh and Nodal officer, Epidemiologist, Dr JP Singh were not available for comments.
