Molestation cases on rise at GMC&H Jammu

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 18: Instead of creating fearless atmosphere among the staff members of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, a few influential doctors in connivance with hospital administration as well as few employees are trying their best to hush-up misdeeds happening in the hospital, even if it's a case of molestation.

A similar incident happened in the main Operation Theatre of a department of the GMC&H few days ago, A doctor is now allegedly trying his best to suppress the voice of victims, who were scolded, abused, harassed and threatened.
"Few days ago, a doctor who claims himself as the henchman of a minister as well as principal of the GMC&H Jammu and look after all the affairs of staff without consulting his seniors including HoD, went to OT where a staffer was performing her duty and started to misbehave," highly placed sources disclosed Early Times.
They said the doctor went up to the extent of pointing out at the smartness of the lady nurses. This led to heated argument and even threats were also given to the said nurses of dire consequences including their suspension and transfer from the OT. The doctor was heard claiming that he got suspended previous principal, and the incumbent principal also dances to his tunes.
Pertinently, the matter was triggered due to some misconception that the said nurses were trying to bring to notice of administration and the HoD concerned regarding immoral misdeeds of the said doctor.
Sources said the influential doctor also misbehaved with another nurse for reasons best known to him. Verbal complaint by both victims was registered to OT in-charge and even the HoD, but all in vain as the doctor is influential.
Sources said it is not the first incident when the same doctor has interfered in the matter of nurses as well as administrative works. Few months ago he asked administration to suspend a female nurse without any reason.
Being influential, the doctor is least interested to attend OPD and participate in departmental works including taking theory and practical classes of MBBS students, which is his primary job.
Instead of performing the job for which he is drawing salary, he is hampering the administrative affairs-from peon to HoD and others including Principal Planning and Engineering Department, Canteens, Recruitments and Promotions of lower staff and other. Whenever a minister or any politician visits the hospital, he remains present and hijacks the meeting without any allotted authority.
