Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 3: The axiom one step forward two steps back suits the State Health and Medical Education Department as after a serious failure in timely implementation of 'Jan Aushadhi Stores' and so called discounted drug stores within the premises of the hospitals, HME is now looking forward to exhaust more energy, time and money on centre sponsored' Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment (AMRIT) Pharmacy scheme'.

Here it need to mention that the centre sponsored scheme "Jan Aushadhi '- to provide unbranded and quality generic medicines at affordable price to common masses- under Pradhanmantri Janaushadhi Yojna has completely failed to implement in the State as the officials have bent before the strong nexus between Politicians, Pharmacists as well as doctors.
"One of the major factors, to defeat the patients' welfare scheme in J&K, is that State government is allowed private players to run shops within the premises, "a senior official within the department informed Early Times.
He also disclosed that after the spurious drug scam and repeated failures in implementation of various central sponsored schemes, the HME department now looking forward to new AMRIT Retail Pharmacy scheme' and the hospitals administration were asked to identify required space within the premises and submit Detail Project Reports (DRP) as soon as possible. Complying with the directions of the HME, the hospitals administration has submitted reports to Principal of GMC Jammu after identify the land within the premises of the hospitals, sources stated, adding but in the same time the strong lobby has activated and started knocking the door of politicians and others to defeat the AMRIT scheme like Jan Aushadhi .It has been alleged that private medical shops were opened in hurry to appease them. It is enough to explain the intention of the Politicians.
Principal Secretary HME, Dr Pawan Kotwal was not available for comments.
