Amid suspense race for MS Post at GMC&H begins

JAMMU, Sept 4: The race for Medical Superintendent's post at Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu has begun as four days have passed since the retirement of Dr Romesh Gupta from the same post but the suspense continues as the quest for a suitable doctor also continues.


Official sources said that the politically affluent candidates had started lobbying a month before the retirement of the above mentioned doctor.

As per rumors, Dr Manoj Chalotra, presently MS Super Speciality Hospital Jammu, Dr Dara Singh, MS at SMGS Hospital Jammu, CEO Kathua RK Sangra, CMO Jammu Ravinder Khajuira are front runners in the race and efforts are being made to get the post.

If sources are to be believed that some doctors are posted in outskirts and well as in the city of temples are leaving no stone unturned to appease the politicians and bureaucrats.

Belying government's repeated pronouncements of no political interference in the administrative decisions and bringing transparency, few, who have the requisite qualification and experience, are also using their contacts to get the prize posting through the backdoor.

Sources also asserted that the charge has been given to Deputy MS to look after the affairs of the hospital. Besides, the post Deputy MS posts at Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital and Super Specialty Hospital Jammu have been lying vacant for last many years due to casual approach of the HME department.

Even, MS and Dy MS post at CD Hospital are lying vacant but nothing has been done to fill up the vacant posts for the smooth functioning of the hospitals. Sources alleged that the concern authorities seem least concern to improve things in the government runs hospitals by following laid down criteria.

Doctors' "negligence" claims 2 lives
