Early Times Report
jammu, July 17: Notwithstanding the tall claims of
administration of Psychiatry Disease Hospital Jammu about giving best
facilities, the fact is that junior doctors take care of the patients.
A senior doctor seeking anonymity told Early Times that
the duty roaster of the hospital maintains that at least one senior along with
a junior doctor has to be physically present during the night duty. "In
the absence of a senior because of shortage of doctors, an intern is treating
the patients," he added.
"In the night hours only a junior doctor is seen
taking rounds in the hospital. The junior doctor is less experienced. What can
a junior doctor do if any emergency arises," he asked.
Careless admin?

"There is acute shortage of doctors and other
staff. The matter has been brought to notice of Principal of GMC Jammu, but in
vain," he said.
Moreover, the hospital lacks basic facilities. Since
the establishment of hospital, there is no functional water cooler, causing
inconvenience to the patients and attendants who are forced to packed water
bottles from the market. Also, the power generator is lying non-functional.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent of the
Psychiatry Hospital, Jammu Dr. Osmani said the water cooler is functional. When
asked why a senior doctor is not available during the night, she said the
hospital has only two consultants.
She said the matter has been taken with Principal of
GMC, "but nothing has been done so far."
