Power drunk, ADC Ramban beats lineman

JAMMU, June 11: In yet another instance of bureaucrat abusing power, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ramban allegedly manhandled a lineman of Power Development Department (PDD) of district Doda over issue of curtailment power of his kins who resident of Doda district.
This story came into limelight when the victim 'Punkesh Kumar 'disclosed the ordeal that he was brutally beaten by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ramban over the curtailment of power of his area (Shamti area of Doda district) with his shoes. "Not only ADC beaten but he also threatened me on gun point through his PSO for not to disclose the episode with anyone, if disclose then you (me) will face its consequences, "victim told to media persons.
Victim also said that the incident took place on May 29 when AE received a call from the office of ADC Ramban and asked to produce Junior Engineer, Meter reader and Lineman to office of ADC. As they trio reached the ADC Ramban's office, JE and Meter reader were asked to wait outside the chamber and lineman remained inside the chamber. "Within minutes, ADC Ramaban started beating me with his shoe for half an hour resulting I fall unconscious and then threw me out the office after giving threat by his henchmen, "he added.
Later, above mentioned JE and Meter Reader took the victim to the sub district hospital Assar of district Doda where Punkesh Kumar got treatment.
Province President of Province Electric Employee Union Jammu PC Sharma condemned the incident and brutal act done by ADC Ramban and said it is not acceptable. "We demanded for judiciary probe into the matter as soon as possible so that accused person should be punished for taking law into his hand," he said and adding that if the government is failed to hold inquiry of the said case then the Union will come forward and government will be responsible for it.
When contacted ADC Ramban Angrez Singh Rana admitted that trio were called and asked about overcharging in the above said area and he denied allegations leveled by the lineman.
"After receiving complaints of overloading and over charging, I called them and asked about it nothing else. I also asked concern to enquiry the matter of overcharging and submit its report as soon that's why they are putting false allegation on me, "he claimed.

Contesting the claims of ADC Ramban, Victim said as "I am only a lineman how can I put overload on meters and overcharging to them."
