Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said as a custodian of GMC&H and its associated hospitals, the Principal gave NoC to the organizers to hold the Mela after charging rupees one lakh for it.

A senior faculty member, wishing anonymity, told Early Times that despite knowing that examinations of medical students is going, it was surprising that the organisers were given a green signal.

"Exms are scheduled from mid March and April. We fail to understand why did the administration give NoC to the organisers?" the faculty member said.
Also, some doctors of GMC&H say that playing bombastic music near the patients who are suffering from various psychiatric diseases is dangerous to their health.

Passing the buck on GMC&H, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh said as a custodian of GMC&H and its associated hospitals, the Principal gave NOC to the organizers to hold the mela after charging rupees one lakh for it.
When asked if the studies of students and health care of patients especially psychiatry patients was not getting affected due to loud music, Singh said this was very serious matter and the Principal should have looked into it before giving a NoC. "If a complaint reaches me, I shall take action after reviewing the entire matter, "he added.
