Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 17:Two privilege motions were moved by the
members in the State Legislative Council on Tuesday and admitted by the
Chairman for taking suitable action on them.
A breach of privilege motions were moved against
Sub-judge who had directed SHO city to register an FIR against National
Conference's Member Legislative Council (MLC), Showkat Ganai the previous day
and two ministers of the State Government for misleading the house over number
of families in the state.
Pertinently, during the ongoing budget session, Finance
Minister mentioned in the power budget that there were only 23 lac families in
the state and government had provided electricity to 20 lac and three lac still
remained un-electrified. Contradicting the Finance Minister announcement, today
another Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (CAPD) informed house
that they are providing rations to 28 lac families in the State which reflected
5 lac differences between two Statements.
NC MLC Veeri along with others raised their voice against
the contradictory replies by the CAPD Minister. When the Minister was
responding to a question by Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, NC MLC said there was
contradiction between replies of Finance Minister and CAPD Minister and
demanded a committee to look into the exact number of families. Later, after
finishing the question hours, MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri along with entire house
moved privilege motion against Sub-Judge, who directed SHO city to register an
FIR against a member of the house, MLC Showkat Ganai for his statement on
Burhan Wani, on the floor of the house."Legislators have got legislative
immunity and can express their views in the house, "Veeri stated.
