Jammu, Oct 2: When the neighbouring State Punjab
government directed its health department to get ready for any eventuality
following escalating border tensions in the wake of surgical strikes at
militant camps in the, the state government has yet to wake up to do the
needful.
"A high alert has been sounded in the Indo-Nepal
border areas after central intelligence agencies received inputs that Pakistani
terrorists may infiltrate into India via Nepal and strike at Sashastra Seema
Bal (SSB) camps, according to a newspaper.
Sources within H&ME department told Early Times
that no directions had been issued in view of escalating tension at border
areas in the State by the Department so far and administration of the hospital
has failed to gear up to deal with any kind of emergency.
Already, the affairs of the Government Medical College
and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu are not good due to heavy rush and shortage of
manpower and infrastructure.
"Even, the last some days, the Super Sepciality
Hospital Jammu wing of GMC&H is facing huge problems as some departments
and vital machineries have not been working properly due to multiple reasons as
well as non-seriousness attitude of the higher ups of the Department,
"doctors, seeking anonymity, alleged and adding that they had failed to
understand why the matter has not been resolved till date despite repeated
meeting held the concern officials and Minister.
However, an official who did not wish to be named told
that GMC&H had adequate stock of drugs to deal with any kind of emergency.
Contesting the claims of official of the hospital,
doctors further said that there were limit stock of medicines, other related
equipments, shortage of Nursing Orderly (NO) and others, it will cause of
inconvenience during any kind of emergency. The issues associated deficiencies,
shortage and others have been taken by the head of the various departments
timely with the concern authority but the higher ups have always showed less
interest toward the patients care especially Jammu province.
