Early
Times Report
Jammu,
Sept 6: To appease some 'influential' faculty members, the administration of
Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu has curtailed the
timing of Out Patient Department (OPD) putting patient care in jeopardy
especially for patients coming from far flung areas.
However,
officials of the hospital claimed that to review and follow up those patients
who are admitted in the emergency wards, the timing has been changed.
Sources
within GMCH told Early Times that a delegation of faculty members, who had
already misguided administration by over ruling Government Order and succeed to
fix its own time table have succeed again in their plan to reduce OPD timing of
GMCH and associate hospitals.
ET
had published report of misdeeds of these faculty members following which GMCH
had changed the timing. The timing of OPD has now been changed from 8AM to 2 PM
to 12 noon.
"Due
to change of guard in the State Government, the influential group has once
again started to interfere and destabilize the administrative functioning,
"Source alleged, adding that the delegation of faculty members met with
Principal seeking curtailment of OPD timings so that they could maintain their
private clinics causing huge inconvenience to poor patients and their
attendants, epically those belonging to far flung areas who generally reach
GMCH late.
"Unaware
of new timings, I reached at 12 PM but the counter of GMC&H was
closed," said Ram Lal, who had brought his ailing father.
