Health services remain paralyzed as PG docs continue stir over alleged ‘assault’


Few senior doctors alleged of playing ‘politics’ over the stir issue

Jammu, Aug 16: For last three days, all junior doctors in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu are on strike after a Postgraduate doctor was manhandled by attendants of a patient in GMC emergency on August 14, putting the routine health services affected while taking a tough step the administration has cautioned the protesting medicos to join respective units otherwise face the music.
Meatime the sources within the hospital management told on anonymity that some few senior faculty members (doctors) are reportedly playing politics over the issue just for their vested interests and to be in good books of the concerned minister.  Sources said that such elements when sitting across the table with protesting PG doctors support their case while their stand gets shifted in other case. 
Sources however added that Minister for Health and Medical Education Department today during a meeting with HODs of GMC&H Jammu at PWD Guest House directed management to enhance security within GMC&H Premises and also directed to protesting doctors to resume their duties on today (Tuesday) by or before 8 PM otherwise their services shall be considered as ‘terminated.’
Meanwhile sources added that there was no word about joining/ resuming services from protesting PG doctors till the filing of report.  “If the doctors, who are on strike, are failed to resume duties before 8 PM the action should be taken in this regards (may be terminate from the service), “the sources stated quoting the discussions of meetings.     
Pertinently on August 14, following an alleged scuffle with attendants of a ‘brought dead’ patient one of the attendant allegedly assaulted a PG doctor of Medicine Department since then all junior doctors are on protest and medical services remained parlayed even in the emergency services also.
Sources didn’t hesitate to mention that some senior doctors who are allegedly acting as ‘instigators’ in the said strike are projecting themselves as loyalist of Minister as well as junior doctors to gain good will of the both.”
A senior doctor seeking anonymity told no one has bothered to welfare and smooth functioning of the institute and they want the administration and junior doctors always come to loggerhead for only for their vested interests.        
Sources stated that junior doctors called a meeting and deiced to continue their ongoing strike till then the administration will not obey their demands viz explanation of CMO who was on duty, long pending demand increase police security in GMC&H and action should be taken against Sub Inspector of GMC Police Chowki. Doctors' "negligence" claims 2 lives
