1: World AIDS Day was celebrated in Government Medical College (GMC) and
Hospital Jammu by ignoring the ailing patients, as all the doctors had
assembled in the auditorium of GMC hospital to appease the Minister for Health
and Medical Education thereby abdicating their basic responsibility of
providing health care to the needy.
Ironically,
when the Health Minister was presiding over the function organized by AIDS
awareness society, an unattended patient who was lying in-front of emergency
and the doctors were busy in the attendance of the Minister.
"The
patient who was admitted in the hospital some days ago was lying in unhygienic
condition, " Sources claimed, adding that there were numbers of NGOs
working in GMC, but none was available to help the patient. Social workers who
were especially deputed in the hospital for unattended patients did not come
forward to attend this patient. Significantly, it is not the first instance of
such gross negligence on the part of the hospital authorities, they claimed.
Carelessly
parked vehicles of Minister’s cavalcade and doctors, besides guests and
visitors created mess in the hospital parking and crucial drive way of the
Emergency as it was all chocked, leaving no scope for an ambulance to drive in
with the patient.
