Early Times Report
Jammu, May 24: Taking the Government
Medical College (GMC) and Hospital Jammu, administration head on, the Resident
Doctors Association (RDA) has questioned the inaction of administration over
drip reaction cases for the last two years. Moreover, they have also cornered
the administration for non-availability of essential drugs for common patients
but available for VIPs and VVIPs and close ones and relatives of ministers and
bureaucrats.
In the backdrop of suspension of a
doctor over alleged negligence, which led to death of a patient, RDA president
Dr Neeraj Sharma told Early Times that frequency of Drip reactions has markedly
increased over the last 2 years and it has been repeatedly brought into the
notice of the Medical Superintendent, Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal and Principal GMC
Jammu, Dr Ghanshyam Dev. Despite all reminders, with dozens in written, the
administration failed to take appropriate corrective measures."
Questioning the suspension of
Medicine Registrar Dr Sushil Pandita on Saturday, RDA GMC Jammu and Associated
Hospitals sought impartial enquiry into the whole episodes of drip reactions over
the last two years. It is penitent to mention that a patient was died at GMC
hospital as allegedly negligence of Dr Sushil Pandita and later Dr Sushil was
suspended by Principal of GMC hospital.
He also took strong concern about,
what they called, the dictatorial, unethical, highly highhandedness and
deplorable attitude of the administration particularly principal, Dr Ghanshyam
Dev, for doing suspensions without conducting any impartial inquiry. "This
administration is fond of destroying the morale of its workforce by imposing
dictators like Dr Ghanshyam Dev Principal GMC Jammu and incompetent MS Dr
Rattan Pal. We want immediate enquires to fix role in non availabilities of
Trollies, Oxygen lines in wards , drinking water for patients and their
attendants in emergencies and non availability of essential drugs in emergency
and how they become available to VIPs and VVIPs at the behest of
politicians", they said.Pertinently, in the last few months, the cases of
drip reactions were reported and the administration had not taken any action or
holds any enquiry. Sources alleged that last month the three cases were
reported in emergency ward of GMC hospital and brought to notice of
administration but all in vain. When contacted Principal Dr Ghanshyam Dev and
MS Dr Ravinder Rattan Pal didn't pickup calls.
