Parents demand inqury against Dr. Anice Choudhary

Nitesh Sangral
JAMMU, Dec 13: Family members of the girl child who died due to alleged negligence of doctors at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) hospital on Wednesday are demanding an independent inquiry against the Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Dr. Anice Choudhary, who delayed providing treatment to her.

They have raised question mark over the announcement to conduct an inquiry by Dr. Choudhary, who himself did not attend the patient nor responded to the calls made by the parents of the girl.

On Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Sanjeev Verma had ordered a probe into the death of a child undergoing treatment in Pediatrics Unit with directions to submit a detailed report within three days for further action. But million dollar question that arises is why Dr Anice Choudhary was delaying her treatment after repeated calls made by parents of the girl.

Source said that in October this year serious allegations have been leveled against Dr Anice Choudhary, who is also the head of department of ENT, accusing him of indulging in “indiscipline” and “un-ethical practice”.

He is also accused of “tampering of departmental record” and “misusing his official position. After demanding a judicial probe against him and debarring him from functioning as the Principal in-charge. There is no action has been taken against him till date.

Incidentally, the Dr Chowdhary himself in his private clinic examined the helpless child before being admitted in the SMGS Hospital. The girl had swallowed a corn which got stuck in her throat at home in Dessa.

Amar Chand, father of the girl said after he begged the doctors to get child treated, but Doctors on duty did not take the case seriously and attend child casually. “On seeing the casual approach of doctors in the hospital, a doctor suggested me to go ENT specialist Dr Anice Choudhary in private clinic, after examining the child advised them to stay in the hospital for treatment in next day. But he is delaying the surgery despite calling them to his private clinic.

When contacted Deputy commissioner (DC), Jammu Sanjeev Verma said that he has issued ordered magisterial inquiry into the negligent death, which would be conducted by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, RS Sharma. The report will submit within three days, if anyone found mistake will take stern action against that culprit.

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls. However the concern is how to stop this menace which is like a curse on our society. A college student said that at times girls face mental harassment in shape of comments, sudden touch or lewd gestures from the teachers, but it is mostly ignored. Few days back, a teacher of a private college was arrested for allegedly making an obscene MMS of a student in mountainous Kishtwar district. 'The teacher identified as Tariq Qayoo...
