Army, BSF activates anti-fog devises along the border with Pak

JAMMU, Dec 07: With winter setting in, the Border Security Force (BSF) was put on alert along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB, security forces have switched on electronic gadgets to counter foggy weather conditions, which will soon engulf the area.

Official said sophisticated surveillance gadgets, including anti-fog devices, have been installed along the Indo-Pak border to check infiltration in the prevailing foggy conditions. The entire international border is deployed with thermal gadgets and surveillance equipment have been put in place to check and foil infiltration.

Every year army and border force, majority of areas along the vexed witness foggy weather conditions from November to February and it was during this period that Pakistan Army and Rangers try to push militants. BSF have already pressed in the equipments to light up areas to counter infiltration bids in the advantage of fog.

“Over 200 militants are reportedly camping across the border awaiting an opportunity to sneak in and they take advantage of foggy weather conditions”. BSF official said.

"There are several gadgets which are successful (to detect infiltration) during fog. The anti-fog devices are installed on our border, and BSF assured that our jawans are alert and are ready for any type of contingency," he said.

He said a large number of militants, who are in camps on Pakistani side, are being pushed into Indian territory, but the border force is ready to foil their designs. He said every year there are attempts of infiltration during winter season when high altitude passes get closed due to snowfall.

Close vigil is being maintained on the border to foil infiltration bid from Pakistan side. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have also alerted village defence committees in several areas to fend off terror attack.

Source said that according to intelligence sources, several hundred militants are waiting to cross the border along Kashmir with the help of Pakistani army establishment. Taking advantage of blinding fog covering border areas, the Pakistan army has become proactive with its nefarious plan of helping militants infiltrate in fog season. “Every year during foggy weather, the Pakistan forces help militants cross the border by giving them cover fire,” he said.

“The ultras were trying to come close to the LoC to infiltrate into this side but retreated after finding the troops alert. Army and BSF were maintaining a high alert along LoC and IB to ensure that not a single militant managed to sneak into this side,” sources added.
