Don’t issue threats from PoK, come to J&K: DGP challenges

Nitesh Sangral

JAMMU, Dec 04: The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad today dared Hizbul Muhajeed leader Syed Salahuddin to come and make his threats against India in J&K and not from Pakistan.

"I say anything he is giving statements--he is little too far from here--He is out of our reach--he should come here and issue statement (of threats), As far as his threats of violence, J&K Police is perfectly equipped to take care of it (threats)," he said.

As per the reports in the section of media in Jammu and Kashmir, Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin had last month said that New Delhi was "exploiting panchs and sarpanchs to project Kashmir as pro-India" and that they will "continue to be targeted no matter how much government tries to secure them."

While addressing media persons, (DGP) said that it is easy for the militant leader to make threats from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), but he should make these threats from within India if he has the courage.

DPG further said that the police department has taken major step to maintain pace and 99 percent people don’t want any disturbance in the state. He said that the 90 percent militants come from the cross.

Despite that in the report of government the Indo-Pak border, particularly Jammu region, is highly vulnerable to infiltration from Pakistan side. Pak-based, terrorists with the support of Pak Rangers and Pak Army, often make abortive attempts to sneak into Indian territory.

There have been a total of 249 infiltration attempts this year as against 247 last year, 489 in 2010, 485 in 2009, 342 in 2008 and 535 in 2007, as per the information given by the concerned minister.

“The Centre in tandem with the State Government has adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross-border infiltration including strengthening of border management, construction of border fencing, improved technology, weapons and equipments for security forces, improved intelligence and operational coordination among others.
