A city, were traffic police don’t dare to remove beacon lights

JAMMU, Dec 11: Despite the tall claims of authorities unauthorized bacon lights will be removed but traffic police has failed 
to implement directive to pressure of politicians. Due to this police personnel don’t dare to remove their illegal bacon lights.

Throwing all norms to the winds senior bureaucrats, police and Army officers here, they have fitted red beacon on official vehicles to drop their children from schools and later at the coaching centres.

It is pertinent to mention here that, on October 1, this year the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police have launched massive drive to check the unauthorised use of beacon lights, during which it will check vehicles having such installations to know whether the person was entitled to have it.
Though the school authorities have provided adequate transport facilities on almost all the routes in the city yet majority of children of who’s who of the state establishment come to school in red beacon fitted vehicles and return home in the same under security cover.

Official source said that, the misuse of read bacon lights issue rise in many time to higher authorities. The authorities also discussed the matter to concerned authority that militants in the Jammu and Kashmir State and security threat to higher rank officials, bureaucrats and other politicians along with entirely family. He also disclosed due to the security scenario in the state the concerned department granted permission to authorised bacon lights, their families use the bacon lights vehicles.

“Interestingly, this decision taken by concerned authorities is against the norms and laws after that the department taken such type of decision,” source said. He also said on many occasions these officers even spare their official vehicles along with security guards for other family members during office hours and for some other extraneous reason while remaining themselves present in the office occupying the ‘hot seat’.

When contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Sujit kumar Chauhan said that the drive against of unauthorised bacon light is going on and the officials are continuing check the misuse of bacon lights vehicles. He further said that number of challan issued against the misuse of bacon lights.
