A city, were traffic police don’t dare to remove beacon lights

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Dec 11: Despite the tall claims of authorities unauthorized bacon lights will be removed but traffic police has failed  to implement directive to pressure of politicians. Due to this police personnel don’t dare to remove their illegal bacon lights. Throwing all norms to the winds senior bureaucrats, police and Army officers here, they have fitted red beacon on official vehicles to drop their children from schools and later at the coaching centres. It is pertinent to mention here that, on October 1, this year the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police have launched massive drive to check the unauthorised use of beacon lights, during which it will check vehicles having such installations to know whether the person was entitled to have it. Though the school authorities have provided adequate transport facilities on almost all the routes in the city yet majority of children of who’s who of the state establishment come to school in red beacon fitted vehicles...

Gang ‘disconnects’ BSNL

15 ft of wire stolen by thieves at Amphalla Nitesh Sangral Jammu, Dec 11: As the largest telecommunication service provider in the state Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is on a mission to connect people through air and wire, a gang of thieves is on prowl to disconnect BSNL! Unidentified robbers have stolen 15 ft telephone communication wire of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at Amphalla, leaving nearly 1,000 people without landline telephone and Internet connection. This is the fourth incident of such kind in the city. A VIP colony including the residence of former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed and some bureaucrats have also been affected by snapping of telecom lines. Hospitals still dump their waste in open, threat to people

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Dec 10: Most of the government health’s institution in the Jammu and Kashmir state is dumping their bio-medical waste in open areas. Due to which a serious health and environment threat to everybody around. But the concerned department has not taken any action in this regard as so far. In accordance to rule 5 (2) of Bio Medical Waste Management and Handing Rules 1998 (Amended 2003 it is mandatory for every occupier to set up bio medical waste treatment facilities like incinerators, autoclave, microwave system for the treatment of waste or ensure treatment of waster at a common waste treatment facility or any other treatment facility. But in State very few Health institutions have installed this facility. Army, BSF activates anti-fog devises along the border with Pak Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Dec 07: With winter setting in, the Border Security Force (BSF) was put on alert along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB, security forces have switched on electronic gadgets to counter foggy weather conditions, which will soon engulf the area. Official said sophisticated surveillance gadgets, including anti-fog devices, have been installed along the Indo-Pak border to check infiltration in the prevailing foggy conditions. Don’t issue threats from PoK, come to J&K: DGP challenges

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Dec 04: The Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad today dared Hizbul Muhajeed leader Syed Salahuddin to come and make his threats against India in J&K and not from Pakistan. "I say anything he is giving statements--he is little too far from here--He is out of our reach--he should come here and issue statement (of threats), As far as his threats of violence, J&K Police is perfectly equipped to take care of it (threats)," he said. GMC has no ambulances to ferry dead patients depend on charity organisations Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Dec 3: Premier Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital facing acute shortage of ambulances to ferry dead bodies of patients who die in the hospital. This despite the fact that health department and hospital management has been assuring that new fleet of ambulances will be put into service for the benefit of the patients. Official’s source said that in absence of ambulances the available one are used for both ferrying the dead and injured patients, putting the life of the people at risk, as there is always threat of infections. “People are now dependent on charity of private persons who have pressed their vehicles to carry the dead bodies. Cyber cafes in city continue to ignore warning, fails to provide details to security agencies

Nitesh Sangral  JAMMU, Dec 02: Despite cyber cases becoming a medium for the anti-social elements and terrorists to convey their sinister designs, cafes in Jammu city continue to violate the norms, while law enforcement agencies are also now stopped conducing routine checking. Many of the cafes have even not installed the CCTV cameras and are not recording the detailed information of the customers visiting the cyber cafes daily. Pertinently, after Delhi blast at High Court in 2011, the police had arrested three youths from Kishtwar and had detected the use of cyber café in the mountainous town for sending the threat mail. Later the state government has issued set of guidelines for the functioning of the cafes. 208 temples damaged, govt. still not introducing shrines bill for their protection

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, Nov 30: Over 208 temples have suffered damages during the 20 years’ of turmoil in Kashmir Valley and despite assuring time and again th at Temple and Shrines bill will be introduced in Legislative Assembly, government has failed to do so. In absence of such a bill, there is no protection for the temples in valley and most of them are being encroached upon by the land mafia. Pertinently the issue is of much concern as after the migration of Kashmiri Hindus from the valley, encroachment has increased 208 of the 438 temples in the Valley had been damaged. The state government claimed the number of 57 temples have been damaged in Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, followed by south Kashmir's Anantnag district where 56 temples have suffered damage.
