JAMMU, Oct 29: Traffic scenario in Jammu is likely to go from bad to worse as more than 20,000 vehicles including that of ministers and bureaucrats will arrive in the winter capital.

The traffic management which is already in shambles despite introduction of the traffic lights, will bring back the era of long vehicular jams and increased restrictions on the movement of people.

After the Darbar Move to the winter capital of the State Jammu, there has been a rapid increase in the number of vehicles plying on the roads resulting in traffic congestion. There is about 25 thousand vehicles are coming just because of Darbar Move in Jammu.

It is pertinent to mentioned here that the heavy rush on the roads is common scene coming days and frequent traffic jams has made the situation more worst. Traffic cops are having a tough time on the roads to streamline the ever busy traffic.

Source said that the in the other hand the roads and flyovers maintenance is begun last from some days, but these things would not help in solving the traffic problem unless some stern measures will be taken by the administration.

“The commuters are all set to face more problems from the next month following the reopening of Darbar, about 20000 vehicles will be added in the existing vehicular and running on roads in the winter capital”, said a officer from Traffic department.

He stated with the addition of such a large number of vehicles, the commuters as well as traffic officials will have to face a lot of problems. Most interesting things the Traffic Police have claimed they will face this problem but the department has insufficient officials in Jammu region.

Even SSP Traffic Jammu, said that all the preparation have been done, the few routes also diverted in the Jammu city. He also informed that the 80 Traffic officials are coming from the secretariat Srinagar within a day; they will help to ensure smooth movement of vehicles

“For the smooth functioning of the vehicles the traffic department has set up some check points”.

He added that as per the requirement of the location, the department has also increased three to four traffic personnel at every check point for the period of six months till the Civil Secretariat remains in Jammu”.
