JAMMU, Sept 05: The presitigious Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu, was hogging the newspaper headlines over past few days over for wrong reasons. In a short span of time, the two cases pertaining to negligence of doctors and other staff members besides, theft of microscopes and transformers.

These incidents have completely exposed the tall claims of authorities that all is going well in the Medical College, which premier health and medical education institution Jammu region.

It is pertinent to mention here that a patient was admitted to the emergency ward of the hospital three days ago by a charitable trust. For the first two days, he was attended by doctors like any other patient in the hospital. But when it became increasingly clear that he could not be saved, the hospital authorities allegedly abandoned him.

Source said that the patient was completely ignored by hospital authorities. Even as passers-by complained of a foul stench emanating from near him. However, the hospital staff turned blind eye to his deteriorating condition.

According to sources, the security apparatus of Medical College was completely paralysed as nobody knows how the said patient went missing from emergency and later found nearby. Even the CCTVs failed to detect the movement as they were also defunct. However, the hospital administration blaming an unknown person for committing the act for vested interest.

“The administration on Sunday registered missing case after they know the news reached to the media persons. Then they immediately registered a missing case of the patient. But few time the patient found in the premises control room but interestingly, the record could not be found, “ said Principal GMC Dr Aniece Choudhary.

In another incident, a patient came in the hospital on September 3 at about 1 a.m due to road accident, the authorities admitted him in orthopedics unit IC in emergency. Later, he died at 4.30 a.m. His family members alleged that victim died due to negligence of the doctors.

Reacting to the incident, Principal said “In the cases Balwant Sharma, a committee with the following composition is hereby constituted to enquire and subit a report thereof to the undersigned with two days of the receipt of this communication to establish truth or otherwise stated by the complainant".
