| JAMMU, Oct 21: While the increasing number of thefts have alarmed the society and police alike, but the police is finding it difficult to crack some of the cases, as gangs and thieves from outside the state have begun targeting the city. Sources said that in recent years the influx of large number of people from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Odissa and some other states for livelihood had also attracted the criminal gangs, mostly targeting the homes and commercial establishments for high value goods and gold. It is pertinent to mentioned here that from last five years (2005 to 2010) crime related incidents have shown constant rise in the state. During 2008, out of 2069 theft cases registered, similarly during the year 2009, out of 2704 registered theft cases in the state. Interestingly, the thefts graphs increased year by year in the state but police have never taken strict action towards stooped permanently stop for thefts Free State. Source said that in the police department year report 2011, 4171 thefts cases has witnessed and worth Rs.2166 lakhs. 1262 homes are thefts and 615 lakhs material have lost and thieves target 952 numbers of shops thefts and worth Rs. 584 lakhs. The number of National Highway 23 thefts cases in 2011 stands and 27 lakhs. 937 cases of thefts are running Railway boxes. The state has witnessed near about 1931 automobile thefts. Sources claimed that motor vehicle thefts and burglaries, the curbing of all other criminal activities is like adding a feather in Jammu police cap. In the last one year, property worth Rs 37,4,74,294 was stolen in cases of burglary, wire theft, cycle theft, motor vehicle theft, idol theft, forest theft, arms theft, cattle theft and others. Police had made recovery of items worth Rs 19,8,93,145. Police personnel said that some blind cases were also solved by police within a short span of time. "Security arrangements have made in connection with festivals. It is due to high alertness and meetings held by police that communal harmony is intact in the society," he added. “Police department officials are continue running drive against these activities and police department also many time arrested thieves and recovered large amount of worth from accused possession,” he said. He further said that some pending in the court and other under investigation. “Most of the cases the outsiders thieves target in the state. They comes from different state and start working of vendor, after some time they thefts in the homes and escape from the Jammu,” he added. | |
