Secret tunnel on Indo-Pak border, shows big intelligence failure of decade

JAMMU, July 31: Despite installing Hi-Tech Technical gadget along Line of Control the discovery of Tunnel on the International Border (IB) has once again brought to focus. The new techniques adopted by Pakistan to infiltrate militant.

Pertinently, the Republic Day is coming and Pakistan try to create a disturbance in the 15 August Republic Day. After the recovery of an unfinished tunnel along the Indo- Pak border in Samba district, Security arrangements across Jammu, especially the border villages have been beefed up following an alert sounded.

Official source said that the Pakistan seems to have adopted a new strategy of using subterranean route to infiltrate terror. A three by three feet diameter tunnel has been found just 100 metres away from the fence in Chachwal area of Samba sector. He further said that there must be many tunnel in the border areas. “Security forces have claimed the tunnel was not complete and it was under construction, the security agencies did not want to take any chance following which the security have been strengthened” , he added.

He also said that, they are conducting searches all along the border following the unearthing of the tunnel. The Army, BSF and Police are on alert and they are working in close coordination with each other to foil any attempt of militants in the state. They are exchanging details regarding security and other related things with top officers of army and Police after every one hour.

“They are conducting searches in their respective areas. They are doing everything to avoid any unwanted and anti national incident,” the BSF officer further said. He said the DG BSF also will visit in Jammu on August 1 for especially see the tunnel and other security arrangements in the border areas.

The security force and State police on high alert, they never take any types of risk especially on republic Day. He informed that the police and other security agencies have been on toes, while the police have strengthened security grid at the border villages.

Meanwhile, sources said that the team of experts has not reached Samba for investigation of the tunnel, which was recovered on July 27. Now the BSF would be approaching Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to measure length of recovery tunnel.

Police spokesman said that in the samba district the vehicles from the border villages to the Jammu city are being checked by the police officials at various nakkas to ensure foolproof security on coming Republic Day.
