JAMMU, Aug 9: The SIM cards of telecom companies are being sold in the black market in the city particularly rural areas. These SIM cards sold within Rs 50 for a prepaid or post-paid connection. However, the activity is running last two or three months In the RS Pura area but police department as well as telecom companies have not aware such thing.

A local said that, he was not at home; and a local person came to his house and asked him for pictures and other identification from my wife, and later he was provided two SIM cards.

He further said that few days back he filled the form to purchase new SIM cards. But after a day that telecom companies called him and said that there are SIM cards already in same name. He have fill the form a day’s how is possible? “I have go to the police station and registered complaint against him, who taking photographs and identification”.

Source said that a local is going home to home with his camera and he is click photographs of peoples and take identification from them. After that he is provide 3 to 4 SIM cards different telecom companies within RS 50. The people of there are trapped of that men and they are continue purchase SIM cards.

He further said that the accused getting 3 to 4 SIM Cards on a name, these SIM cards activate on next days without verifications by telecom companies as well as police officials. The negligence of the mobile service providers has made it easier for criminals to buy SIM cards as they are given connections without identity verification.

“It is a major headache, though mobile companies need to verify the person properly before allotting a connection, they are flouting norms to meet their business targets. The criminals are taking advantage of this and buying several connections, making it more difficult for us to track them," he added.

He further said that the accused, who sold the SIM cards, also was arrested by police in case of SIM cards. Approximately, accuse provide 300 thundered, in the Chak Harnia.

However, Concerned Police claimed after getting the complaint, they are made a new team for special checking of this type activity. They also claimed that they will arrest the dealers as soon as possible.
