Crime Branch to investigate the back ground of child beggars in city

Nitesh Sangral
JAMMU, Aug 25: Despite recent cases of children being used by the gangs for begging being exposed across the country, Jammu and Kashmir police has still failed to investigate about the background of the child beggars in the state.

Sources said that there are hundreds of child beggars on the streets of the city, and despite claims of police and administration that they are keeping track on the people behind this trend who are pushing children to beg, no notable step has been taken.

Though it was alien to the state but now begging has become a major headache for the administration in the state.

Recently some complaints have been received by the Crime Branch which has started investigation in the matter, but it is to be seen what action will be taken by the police against the people involved in this activity.

Official source said that the complaint came to the crime branch and whose complaint against this the name is still kept secret by the Crime Branch. The secret person also provides some more detail related to this case to crime branch. He further said that outsider person behind these activities.

Source said that the place is mostly slums. It is these children's living arrangements for food and drinks. These children are left in different places every morning and evening is brought back. These children have been forcibly handicapped by chopping off their organs. Organ donation rackets are mushrooming like never before and apprehensions are being cast that these hapless children are made a fodder to supply their vital parts to the industry.

“Often, they end up in almost damning state, whereby they have to lead dependent lives and too miserably by forcing them into begging on the roads”, sources said. Besides, these children are also forced into ghastly crimes turning them into hardy criminals over the years.

He further said that n governments in the States are clueless about their whereabouts. No policy seems to be in place either owing to the size of the country, or it is becoming way bit impossible for the law-enforcing agencies to do the necessary.

Source said that such reports are heard several times in outside in major cities are ordered forced children to beg. The gang mafia are torture and to put them in the business. These gangs also have operations in several states. Now it has become a gang active in Jammu.

They added that situation indeed is alarming and most of the children are being beaten by their handlers. "A detailed investigation will be conducted about the background of these children and were they belong and who are their parents so that a detailed data is generated. This will also allow us to take action against mafia", said a police official.
