JAMMU, June 13: The SIM cards are selling in the state without proper verification of documents. Despite the repeated warring of government of India, the state government has taken that warring in casual way. Recently, the Police claimed to have arrested two persons in Sopore town for allegedly providing cards to the militants. The question is despite so called fool proof mechanism adopted by the government, how some people are still able to dodge the security agencies. Sources said that it is just a tip of a ice berg because there are hundreds of cases, where some anti-national people have managed to get the SIM cards of different telecom companies. It is pertinent to mention here that the Union Home Ministry has already given two warnings to the telecom companies and had directed the agencies in state to re-verify the customer's documents as well as Sim cards distributors so that anti- national elements could not misuse of pre- paid SIM cards, telecom companies are still not following the norms and police was given the task to go for random check of subscribers but police has completely failed. Sources said that Manzoor Ahmad Bhat and Moinul Haq Lone both from Sopore were providing SIM cards to the militants after procuring them on forged documents from private cellular companies. T he duo provided Sim cards to Lashkar-e-Toiba militants in and around the township. On 13th January 2011, police arrested three persons from Ganderbal for their allegedly providing the SIM cards to militants. On April 17, police seized seven cell phones and 15 SIM cards from jail inmates of Central Jail Srinagar. On May 9 in Poonch, police arrested a gang of six persons allegedly engaged in providing SIM cards to the militants operating in the area. In the same district, security forces claimed to have arrested a militant from border area and recovered a Pakistani SIM card from his possession. |
