Nearly 406 posts of doctors vacant in GMC, Jammu, Srinagar

JAMMU, May 20: Nearly 406 posts of doctors in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Srinagar are vacant as the recruiting agencies have failed to speed up the recruitment process.

As per the data, against the sanctioned strength of 702, a about 406 posts are lying vacant for last many years. Off the vacant posts 291 posts are sanctioned in Jammu whereas 501 posts are vacant in Kashmir division at both the premier medical colleges of the state.

Sources discloses that in Jammu there are 48 posts of professor, off which 22 posts have been filled while 26 posts are still vacant. On the other hand there is need of 49 Associate Professor, out of which 26 posts have been filled while 23 posts are vacant.

Assistants’ Professor, there are 67 posts sanctioned by the government but only 33 have been filled and 34 are lying vacant. The sanctioned posts lecturer 127 posts have been sanctioned but 104 filled, 23 posts are vacant at till now.

Likewise in Kashmir, a total of 501 posts have been sanction and 201 filled. Nearly 300 posts are vacant in Government Medical College (GMC) Kashmir. 69 posts have been sanctioned of professor but 5 posts have been filled and 64 are still vacant. Assoc. professor 74, but 34 posts filled and 40 vacant, 125 assistant post but filled only 53 posts and 72 vacant and lecturer 232 posts are sanctioned but 108 filled and 124 vacant.

When the contacted commissioner and secretary of Health department MK Dwivide said that, he will take a look into the issue.

“We have sanctioned 150 posts of doctors for filling immediately and a notice will be issued on Monday”.

He said that department will try to 150 posts fill within 15 days after short notice. He disclosed that, he will also orgainsed this type of review and knows the situation of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.

There also sanctioned some posts to make a better health care of the both hospitals. He also said this step also helps employment youngster and decreased few number of employment in the state.
