JAMMU, Mar 20: Though Jammu escaped the devastation of the dust storm which had created havoc in Kashmir valley, but winds damaged power infrastructure in various parts of city, plunging many areas in darkness. As of late Monday, some areas were without electricity in Jammu province. Mostly due to trees that came down on power lines and some also damage due to this. The weather experts clear today is cloudy day and tomorrow is normal in Jammu city. They also said some mountains areas will should be rains in the Jammu and adjoin areas. On Monday evening there was sudden change in the weather with high speed winds blowing in the city. In the adjoining areas of people were faced problem due to bad weather or airstreams. Wind lashed most of the district bringing down the temperature. Source said that most of the parts of rural areas and for flungs people were faced problem due to this. The mid night light have cut and some areas without light till now. In most parts of the city, the people were seen enjoying the sudden change of weather outside their homes or in nearby parks, who otherwise forced them to remain indoor because of burning sun. According to the senior Agro-Meteorologist, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr. M.K Khushu, the weather is expected to remain cloudy for next 24 hours. Day before of scorching sun it is good for the people, but tomorrow sun is rise like before. He also mentions they hope rain will fell in the mountains areas. But Jammu city is clear tomorrow. Meanwhile Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Asgar Hassan Samoon said that all the departments of the state government have been put on high alert in the wake of the storm. Although no loss of life has been reported so far from anywhere, the authorities are still collecting the details from various places. "Maximum damage has been caused by the nightlong windstorm in Bandipora district of the Valley where hundreds of rooftops have been blown away and scores of trees uprooted. In Srinagar, the old city areas of Lal Bazaar and Soura have suffered the maximum damage to residential houses, business complexes, shops, school buildings and electricity transmission lines and poles," Aamir Ali, officer on special duty at the divisional headquarters. |
Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 6: The State Health Ministry' claims regarding increase in PG seats in broad specialties have fallen flat as Medical Council of India has granted only 13 more PG seats to the Government Medical College Jammu, while GMC Srinagar has got 30, thanks for not conducting Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of faculty members. It is penitent to mentioned, Minister for Health Bali Bhagat assured Upper House that the Principal Secretary H&ME Department handed over the proposal for increase of 133 PG seats in GMC, Srinagar and 107 PG seats in GMC, Jammu, as one time increase in Medical Colleges of State for the year 2018-19. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through its communication dated March 6, 2018, has conveyed its approval for admitting 15 students in GMC Jammu and 29 for Srinagar for 2018-19.
