JAMMU, Mar 17: Jammu Bandh today evoked a mixed response with all the trader and transporter organisations supporting the call given by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and J&K Peoples Democratic Front (JKDF) to protest against police action on protesters during the March 7 clashes in Rajouri town. These parties protest and alleged the ruling party completely failed for conditions of district Rajouri. The shutdown call is supported by about a dozen traders' bodies and social organizations and also the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Almost shops, business establishments were shut and thin attendance was reported in offices and government educational institutions. But some private educations schools were opened. BJP leaders said that the bandh is spontaneous and complete. We want peace to return to Rajouri and action taken against those responsible for beating Hindus and ransacking their houses." A group of ministers along with senior civil and police officials are in Rajouri to tackle the situation. “Tension began in Rajouri last week following remarks of VHP leader Praveen Togadia on March 5, which were interpreted as "anti-Muslim" by the community leaders and they took out protest marches. Hindus took out counter protests on March 7. Matters worsened that evening when a local religious procession of Hindus was stoned, which led to clashes between the two communities. It pertinent to mentioned here that the opposition parties along with other socials organization to protest against Rajouri Sanitations. These parties alleged the ruling party completely failed for conditions of district Rajouri. Some people open thir shop, private schools and Matadors had going. Some Matadors, buses and including public transport and some private schools were also running. Due to strike some students, locals’ peoples and other officials also have faced a lot of problems. Bar Associations of the strike the lawyers in the courts and the court have been not taken specific work. In city major markets of the city including Kanak Mandi, Ware House, Lakhdatta Bazar, Purani Mandi, Jain Bazar were closed, while shutters of some of the shops remained up in mini markets of west and south Jammu. Meanwhile, the strike had no affect on transportation and public offices. |
Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 6: The State Health Ministry' claims regarding increase in PG seats in broad specialties have fallen flat as Medical Council of India has granted only 13 more PG seats to the Government Medical College Jammu, while GMC Srinagar has got 30, thanks for not conducting Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) of faculty members. It is penitent to mentioned, Minister for Health Bali Bhagat assured Upper House that the Principal Secretary H&ME Department handed over the proposal for increase of 133 PG seats in GMC, Srinagar and 107 PG seats in GMC, Jammu, as one time increase in Medical Colleges of State for the year 2018-19. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, through its communication dated March 6, 2018, has conveyed its approval for admitting 15 students in GMC Jammu and 29 for Srinagar for 2018-19.
