Employment Mela organised in J&K turns out to be drain for state exchequer

JAMMU, Mar 18: The much hyped employment Melas organized by state government have turn out to be cropper as out of around 70 thousands unemployment youth, who have registered for employment near 9 thousands youths have got benefits.

It is pertinent to mentioned here that in the Jammu Province, the department has been organized 1,26745 fairs, in the fairs 26637 youth registered and last 2042 people taking benefits/ or advantages of the fairs.

According to officials records in the Jammu province, 2142 fairs was organized in Jammu district and 370 unemployed youth registered during the fairs, out of which 133 youth have taken benefits of the fairs. In the samba district 21500 fairs organized, 221 youth registered and 37 youth got benefits. Kathua district orgainsed 21500 fairs, 672 have registered from which 120 youth taken benefits.

In the Udhampur district organized 10033 by department, 4144 youth registered in the fairs 452 youth have taken benefits. Ramban district 29450 fairs systematized, 8934 youth registered 188 youth have taken profits. Kistwar district 17000 fairs, 9760, 204. Doda 926 orgainsed fairs, 1068 have registered 890 taken profits. Reasi 4734fairs have organized and 40 have registered their name but no one has taken benefits of the fairs. Similarly Poonch 13000,465 youth only registered. Rajouri 6460, 963 youth have registered.

When is contacted Director of finance labor and employment department, MA Geelani said that said that the department has been registered 6lace 2 thousand unemployed youths. He further said that different department such as agriculture, handicraft, private transformer mechanical and so many other professional comes in the fairs. They professional also motivate and taught the participated. Some people registered ourself on the spot and some after few days. A norm is important in these schemes that age limit minimum 24 and more than 37 and different age group youths participated in the fairs.

He mentioned that about 37 laces participated have been registered in the fairs. The department has work on them and separate of age group list. The department about 1 24 lace candidates list have been sent to department for verify the selected candidates income certificate.“ The Revenue Department approved about 34 thousands youths for volunteers job. The department has get job and some youths taken all owes from the under this fairs.

The government on Tuesday issued an order removing GMC Principal, Dr. Zahid Gillani, and appointed Dr. Sunanda Raina as the new Principal.
