JDAs new rule: Now tax on using the roadside for parking

JAMMU, Apr 5: It seems said Government has made its mind to tax everything thing in Jammu and Kashmir as after imposing property tax, now road tax will be imposed on the vehicles which are parked on the roadsides.

Sources said that to reduce the traffic rush, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) has decided to take parking charges from every bus, tempo and taxi parked on the road.

As per the decision during a meeting held recently, some particular areas of the city on which the parking has been charged include Gummat, Indra Chowk and B C road.

“This has been decided to reduce the illegal parking in the busy roads. After much time, now government will charged tax to the Buses, taxies, matadors and tempos for stand on the BC road”, said a official.

Officials alleged that B C Road has become the hub of the illegal vehicles parking, many of the commercial vehicles has parked their vehicles, due to which there were heavy traffic jam on day time.

The vehicle which were parked without any reasons should also be reduced automatically, which also effect on the reduction of tariff on the busy roads of Jammu.

He further said that now these vehicles not stand without work and if which vehicles stand, they give the tax for stand on there. He stated that the buses given Rs 50 for stand on there, first three hours and taxies and tempos, taxies give tax 20 first 3 hour government charged tax of them Rs 50, if these vehicles stand at more time, they also give more tax.

When contacted Vice Chairman JDA Vinod Sharma said that the department has given four week time to all the concerning department to present the proposal for the said decision. He further said that after that the department will finally implement this rule.
