JAMMU, Mar 16: The state government recently claimed that it has increased the ration to the people living Below the Poverty Line (BPL) upto 40 kg and Antodya Ann Yojna (AAY) families, but the ground situation is quite different. But claims seems hallow as most of the areas does not have proper supply of ration as on the ground level the 35 kg full ration is not reaching to needy and poor people. It is penitent to mention here that under Public Distribution System (PDS), a government scheme has made for providing food to the poor people at reasonable rates but has failed to fulfill it. There are sufficient examples to prove that these schemes are resulted in failure. The depots in the state are not get complete ration to the people, the depots holders’ only getting benefits. Source said that the many villages depot have to provide ration including 20 kilograms of rice and 15 kilograms of flour to BPL, APL and AAY per family. He mentioned that even the well off people were entertained by the depot owners and provided ration meant for the poor. He also said that the depot owners were making a cut ration of ration card holders. Locals alleged that they were mostly people dependent on the government ration but the depot owners were not providing ration properly. The locals who were receiving the ration stated that the dealers always charges rupees two to three extra per kilogram to each. Interestingly government is not seeing these things they are only show off, the state government doing this thing for the people in the state. |
