Border areas become den of illicit liquor, police sleeping

JAMMU, Feb 14: The border areas of Jammu have become den of production and consumption of illicit liquor. Many of the areas in R.S Pura, Bishnah and Arnia area besides other parts of Samba, Kathua, Akhnoor, are worst affected by the menace.

Though police claims to have taken number of steps to stop the menace, but sources said that in some cases, some officials within the administration are themselves involved in the illicit trade.
Despite the imposition of ban on the sale and production of illicit liquor in the state and mostly involving mafia, which derive profit from the poor people, who mostly use cheap liquor.

It is important to mention here that the same is being sold and produced in Bishnah, RS Pura and Arnia area unabated that too under the very nose of local police. The country made liquor is going to many years and still going on but the concerned police station few officials also help the people.

Interestingly, the practices continued to going on last many year and the police authorities not stopping them. The police said that if anybody found involved in these types of activities, they would be taken strict action against the accused.

According to source, in different villages of Bishnah area such as Smailpur, Makhanpur, Tardap, Laswara, titaye, findar, kotli- charaka and Ratia. These area to continued to make country made liquor without any unabated.

He mentioned that these areas concerned police station officials also involved in this illegally this practice. He further said that police charged 'Hafta' from them and occasionally also conducted raids just for the name sake.
He further said that these people only production of the country made liquor. They also maintained that this unabated sale and production also affects the future generations and there is every chance of increase in the crime rate in the areas.

One more case of GMCH doctors' alleged negligence came to the fore when the report of Dr Bhupinder Singh, a pediatrician tested negative for H1N1. He had died of respiratory problems last Thursday.
