Beware! E-mail fraudsters major threat in J&K now Many people trapped by international cheats

JAMMU, Feb 11: While police is still a failure to solve simple cheating cases in Jammu and Kahsmir, now new sophisticated cheating cases is giving sleep less nights to the police. The E-Mail fraudsters who are targeting people claiming that they have won jackpot.

Number of people have fallen to these cheats who send e-mail to the people announcing that they have won lottery or someone is sharing his share of property with the people.

People are asked to submit money to receive the jackpot and one the money is transferred to the accounts created by the fraudsters, they vanish leaving the weeping people. According to report, the e-mails users received the email at his yahoo, Gmail, Reddiffmail and Hotmail besides various other website were the accounts and the fake mails offering money or bumper prizes could be seen.

In Jammu there are about 8 to 10 lakhs users of internet in which 5 lakhs regular using the internet. The internet is becoming hub of cyber crime and some people are making online business independently by falsely sent mails. One of the way people are doing this online fraud and offering money through sending fake e-mails and websites.

In number of cases, people agreed to fill forms sent by these cheats and the pay money on the counterfeit accounts. The counterfeiters also asked to send his photograph and proof of residence for getting the trust of users. It seems that the mails come from Delhi, Mumbai as well as out of countries.

“Some fake e-mails also give threaten to the users to give the complete details of yourself otherwise we will de-activate or suspended your accounts”, said a official.

When contacted Additional Superintended of Police (ASP), Crime Branch Jammu, Ranjit Singh said that the department have received about 20 complaints from the past few months.

“These activities growing day to day in the Jammu and Kashmir, our team also trying to stop these fakes mails and caught the main accused” he added.

He further said that 15 to 20 cases registered with our department and in which 5 persons invested minimum lakhs of rupees to everyone. He stated the ounterfeiters operate from different areas in the country as well as out of countries.

Adding to his statement he said that the department has also tares some people who are operate from the Delhi with the help of Delhi police and after completely investigation we would arrest these people, he said.”

Interestingly, due to the lack of awareness the innocent people trapped illegally net but the concerned authorities not extend the awareness to common masses and caught the accused, who are involved these illegal activities. There are many people invested lakhs of Rupees in the fraudulently mails. They said that the investigation would be continued.

Doctors' "negligence" claims 2 lives
