12 police officials, 2 politicians involved in shielding criminals White collar Gondas, ruling the roost, while Govt. talks of fighting corruption

JAMMU, Feb 10: The surfacing of the names of some police officials in shielding the murders of the Raju Chopra and in grabbing large chunks of land illegally has again put question mark on the action against, ‘White Collar Gondas’ in the state, who have taken common people on ransom.

It is pertinent to mention here that the more than 12 high rank police officials and 2 senior congress leaders involved the encroachments of lands. The police officials and ministers also trying to diverted the focus of investigation.

Amazing is the fact that some Ministers are also engaged in the land grabbing case, who hold an important portfolio in the government and is running the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir.

People across of the Jammu are quite amused and feeling helpless that police officials entrusted to safeguard the law and order in the city are themselves siding with criminals and turned into land grabbers.

It was indeed the biggest secret of the brutal murder of the Raju Chopra, his wife and daughter, who were killed brutally by the criminal gang due to some business rivalry.

“It is bolt from the blue on the law enforcement agencies and the government which has been talking of fighting corruption”, said a senior official.

Sources said that the police is openly using notorious gangsters in grabbing the land which has been going on for years together, while the government remained mum over the illegal encroachment.

“Interestingly, the police instead over work, they are protected the criminals and Ministers who were involved in this case and other criminals cases. They are establishing “Gundaraj” in the Jammu”, said a senior official.

If the police official was done their duties efficiently that time police solved the mysterious case of Chopra’s but the police department not do this.

Rajinder Bhushan Chopra, a leading cement tycoon with diversified business interests, could have become a big business baron in the future. But, on 17 September 2006, criminals cut his life short when they lynched him down to death along with his wife and daughter. The murder was so gruesome it sent shivers through the entire city. Five people were killed after physical torture but still there were no clues left behind.

A cursory look at the murder case makes one feel that no body is safe in this city of temples. Even as the criminals had a field day, as the Chopra murder story suggests, the investigating agencies have not been able to show the capabilities of getting the culprits to book.

The sad part of the story, however, is the plight of Rajinder Chopra’s sons, Rohit and Puneet, who are now living a life full of uncertainties. Since they have a large empire left behind by their father, the security of their life is also a matter of utmost concern. There is always an apprehension that those who killed Chopra, for extracting money or may be out of rivalry, may also endanger the lives of his sons.

Nitesh Sangral JAMMU, June 27: In yet another case of how our society is heading towards moral ruin, a recent case of sexual exploitation of B.ed girl has again exposed the vulnerability of our sisters and daughters. Though the accused have been arrested by the police while he was fleeing towards Kashmir, but it raises lot of question about the moral degradation of our society, which has long tradition of ‘Guru-Shiysha’ concept. Sources said that it could be a tip of the ice berg as there are number of people who are exploiting the innocent girls. However the concern is how to stop this menace which is like a curse on our society.
