Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 8: Number of Deputy Commissioners Jammu
have been changed but no one has dared to fix the rent of rented out medical
shops at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu, resulted huge loss to
the hospital's exchequers.
Pertinently, the matter of assessment the rent of both
shops has been taken with Deputy Commissioners (Chairman District Level
Committee of Rent Assessment of Shops Jammu) time to time but due to casual and
non serious approach, the proposal of fixing the rent of both medical shops has
been gathering dust in the DC office for more than 4 years.
Here is need to mention that two medical fair shops of
cooperative had established since 1940 in the premises of SMGS hospital Jammu
but then medical superintendent as well as concerned authority had not fixed
nor appropriate rent is being charged from the shops due to which the fair
shops are getting benefits of it.
"No appropriate rent was fixed for two shops
rented out to medical fair price shops of Super Bazar (cooperative) for past 75
years causing huge losses to State exchequer as well as Hospital Development
Funds for last so many years, "officials told Early Times.
Irony!
No
appropriate rent was fixed for two shops rented out to medical fair price
shops of Super Bazar (cooperative) for past 75 years causing huge losses to
State exchequer as well as Hospital Development Funds for last so many years.

Moreover, officials claimed that at t present the
management of the SMGS hospital is charging only Rs. 3000 as rent from both
shops which nominal charge (Rs. 1500 per shop) for last three years. Recently
few days ago a letter has been sent to DC Office Jammu to fix the rent but so
far nothing has been done on part of district administration.
Officials also added that earlier, a letter vide number
MS/Fair Price Shops/06/6625-29 dated 16-02-2011, had sent to Deputy
Commissioner Jammu but all in vain. "Since 2011, numbers of DCs of Jammu
were transferred and repeatedly letters and reminders were sent to DC Jammu to
assessment of rent of two medical fair price shops but neither assessment
committee was made nor rent was fixed.
Owing to lackadaisical approach of district
administration, the hospital management failed to get appropriate rent form
both shops so the funds could have utilized for the improvement of the hospital
and patient care.
When contacted Medical Superintendent of SMGS Hospital
Jammu Dr. Dara Singh admitted and said that repeatedly letters had been sent to
Deputy Commissioners since 2011 but no rent has been fixed by them so far.
However, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan
said that he was not aware of such issue so far.
